Project Overview

COALESCE aims to develop innovative approaches for the joint optimisation of data networks and energy systems, supporting the digitisation of sustainable communities. The project focuses on integrating green communication infrastructures with renewable-powered microgrids, addressing the growing energy demands of digital technologies while contributing to the twin green and digital transitions.

The project brings together partners from academia and industry across Europe to collaboratively develop frameworks, algorithms, and practical solutions that improve the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of energy and communication networks. Through international secondments, joint research activities, and knowledge exchange, COALESCE fosters cross-sector collaboration to accelerate innovation in areas such as renewable energy integration, energy optimisation, and smart community energy systems.

 

Cleanwatts Digital Role

Cleanwatts Digital (CWD) contributes as an industrial partner providing expertise in renewable energy systems, energy communities, and microgrid management platforms.

Within the project, CWD:

  • Leads Work Package 5, focusing on networking, training activities, and knowledge exchange across the consortium.
  • Supports the development and validation of energy optimisation frameworks relevant to smart energy systems.
  • Provides access to data platforms, IoT infrastructure, and energy management expertise to support research and experimentation.
  • Contributes to the translation of academic research into practical and scalable energy solutions.

Through collaboration with leading universities and research institutions, CWD helps ensure that project outputs remain aligned with real-world operational and technological needs.
